The Eco Team, previously led by Mrs Stamp have worked really hard over the last few years and have completed lots of ECO projects around school. The team usually meet at least once every month to carry out their work and we have even invited children back from Gayton Junior School to help us. As part of the work carried out by the ECO team, we are very proud to have been awarded various awards:
Look out for more details about ECO projects coming for 2022/23. We hope to hold more 'Fix It, Get Fed' events in the future that invites children and their families to help us with gardening jobs around our school site in return for some chips or doughnuts - keep a look out for these!
The main project in 2018-19 was to create a Recycling Station that is now set up for families to recycle a number of materials such as plastic bottle tops, batteries and spectacles. In 2016-17, the Eco Team worked together on an exciting year-long project. Together they created a wildflower meadow in a corner of our school field! Alongside one of our former Governors, Mr Cremin and our site manager Mr Morris, they planned to make a natural learning space with a huge selection of British wild flowers growing which will hopefully attract lots of animals and creatures in many years to come. The team planted 1000s of wildflower seeds and bulbs which began to grow in the Spring time and we also planted 1000s more seeds in trays which they transferred to the meadow once they had grown a little.
