At Ridgeway, we believe that SMSC is essential for children and young people's individual development, as well as the development of society as a whole. Ofsted also highlights the importance of SMSC as central to the development and growth of children as people and at the heart of what teachers would say education is all about.

 

To ensure our children develop holistically and alongside our weekly PSHE lessons, we provide a wide range of enrichment activities throughout the year that provide additional learning experiences outside of the curriculum that are fun, meaningful and memorable. Please see below examples of extra opportunities we offer our children: 

  • School Council
  • STEM and MADD theme weeks
  • ECO Rangers
  • Visitors into school; e.g Maths in a Suitcase
  • Explore the Bible lunchtime club [run by St Giles Parish Church]
  • A variety of after-school clubs
